01

How your warranty works

Coverage begins the day your equipment is delivered — there's no form to mail in. We keep a digital record of your order number, invoice, and serial number on file, and that record is what our claims team pulls up the moment you contact us.

While registration isn't required to activate coverage, we recommend confirming your serial number with us within the first two weeks of delivery. It shaves a day or two off claim processing later, since we won't need to verify purchase details before authorizing a repair.

Where to find your serial number

Look for a metal or foil tag on the mower frame, usually near the seat mount on riding units or stamped into the deck on push mowers. Handheld tools have it printed near the engine housing or battery port. Keep a photo of this tag with your purchase receipt.

02

Coverage by equipment type

Coverage length depends on the equipment category and how it's rated to be used. Commercial-use limits apply even to residential-rated machines used for paid or fleet work.

Equipment Residential use Commercial / rental use
Riding & zero-turn mowers 3 years, full unit 2 years, engine & drivetrain only
Walk-behind & self-propelled mowers 2 years, full unit 90 days, engine & drivetrain only
Robotic mowers 2 years unit / 1 year battery Not rated for commercial use
Cordless battery tools (trimmers, blowers, chainsaws) 3 years tool / 3 years battery cells 1 year tool / 1 year battery cells
Gas handheld tools (trimmers, blowers, edgers) 2 years 1 year
Tillers & cultivators 2 years 1 year
Snow throwers 3 years 1 year

Coverage windows start from the original delivery date shown on your invoice, not the date of first use.

03

What's covered

Your warranty protects against defects in materials or factory assembly — not damage from use over time. The systems below are covered for the full duration listed in the table above.

Engine assemblies
Pistons, valves, camshafts, oil pumps, ignition coils, and factory carburetion, across Kawasaki, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, and Honda power plants.
Transmission & drive systems
Hydro-Gear hydrostatic pumps, wheel motors, transaxles, and mechanical gearboxes.
Deck & chassis
Fabricated steel decks, spindle housings, deck-lift linkages, and welded tubular frames.
Electrical systems
Starter motors, key switches, electric PTO clutches, wiring harnesses, and charging alternators.
Battery cells
Loss of charge capacity below 70% of original rating, and cell failure under normal use.
04

What's not covered

These exclusions are standard across the industry — they separate a manufacturing defect from the ordinary cost of running equipment.

  • Routine wear items — blades, drive belts, air and fuel filters, spark plugs, tires, clutch linings, and brake pads.
  • Fuel-related damage — engine damage from stale fuel, water contamination, or ethanol blends above E10.
  • Neglect or misuse — running low on oil, impact damage, overloaded towing, or unauthorized performance modifications.
  • Cosmetic & storage wear — paint scratches, surface rust from outdoor storage, or sun-related rubber degradation.
  • Use-class mismatch — a residential-rated machine used in paid, fleet, or rental service is limited to the commercial coverage terms above, regardless of original purchase price.
  • Third-party service — repairs or part replacements performed outside our authorized network without prior claim approval.

Filing a claim

  1. Gather your details

Your order number and the equipment's serial number. A photo of the frame tag works if you don't have the number written down.

  2. Describe the issue

Email sales@mitchemanddavislawnmowers.shop with a plain description of the problem, plus a short photo or video showing it.

  3. Wait for review

Our technical team confirms warranty eligibility within 24 business hours and replies with next steps.

  4. Parts or service dispatched

Replacement parts ship directly to you, or we schedule an appointment with a certified local technician — whichever the repair calls for.

Typical timing

Approved parts ship within 3–5 business days. Service center appointments are usually available within 10 business days, depending on your region's technician availability.

06

Service center network

You never need to crate up a riding mower and ship it back to us. Covered repairs are handled through our network of more than 10,000 independent, certified power-equipment dealers across the country. Technicians use genuine OEM parts, and covered repairs carry no labor or parts charge to you.

If the closest certified center is more than 25 miles from your address, we reimburse reasonable transport costs up to $75 toward drop-off or pickup — just include your mileage or receipt with the claim.

07

Delivery & freight damage

Separately from the manufacturer warranty, we guarantee the condition of your equipment on arrival.

  • Inspect before you sign. If a crate arrives visibly damaged, note it on the Bill of Lading before signing for the freight driver — this protects your claim.
  • Unpack promptly. Report any dead-on-arrival unit or transport damage within 48 hours of delivery for immediate replacement or replacement panels.
  • Photograph everything. Packaging, panels, and any visible damage — this speeds up freight-carrier claims on our end and gets you a resolution faster.
08

Transferring a warranty

Buying or selling used equipment within the coverage window? The remaining warranty transfers to a second owner one time, at no charge, provided we're notified within 30 days of the resale.

To transfer coverage, the new owner emails us the serial number, the date of resale, and a copy of the original invoice or a bill of sale. Coverage that isn't re-registered within that 30-day window lapses for any subsequent owner — this is the one case where paperwork timing matters.

09

Out-of-warranty repairs

Once coverage ends, or for issues that fall under an exclusion, you can still book a repair through the same certified network. You'll pay standard OEM parts pricing and a fixed diagnostic-and-labor rate quoted before any work begins — no surprise invoices. Many centers also offer seasonal maintenance packages (blade sharpening, oil changes, belt replacement) at the same visit.

10

Common questions

No coverage starts automatically at delivery based on your order record. Registering your serial number separately is optional, but it does speed up future claims.

If the original coverage window hasn't expired and the transfer was reported within 30 days of resale, yes. See "Transferring a warranty" above for what to send us.

No. Routine, manufacturer-recommended maintenance — blade sharpening, oil changes, filter swaps — is expected and doesn't affect coverage. Keep receipts for parts and fluids in case a claim ever needs to confirm OEM specs were used.

Coverage applies only within the country of original purchase. Equipment exported elsewhere is not eligible for warranty service through our network.

Ask us to escalate — a senior technical reviewer will take a second look, usually within 2 business days, and may request additional photos or an in-person inspection at a service center.

Send us your serial number and we'll confirm exactly what's covered before you do anything else.
